Home support and caregiver respite depend on an NL Health Services assessment and available services. After assessment, support may include personal care, help with daily tasks, or temporary relief for an unpaid caregiver. Delivery options and any subsidy or client contribution must be confirmed with NL Health Services.
NL Health Services says facility-based respite may be requested in a personal care home or long-term care home for up to 30 days per year, either as one block or shorter stays. Ask your case manager what home-based or facility respite may fit your situation.
Call NL Health Services Western Zone at 1-866-566-3787 to ask where to start. This website cannot arrange care. Respite is not an emergency service—call 911 for immediate danger or a medical emergency, and call 811 for non-emergency health advice.
